It has months since I have delighted in the taste of a salted caramel cupcake from Georgetown Cupcake or any of the other goodies on my post-fast eating list. In just about two hours Hubby and I will have successfully concluded our 40+ day journey for this Lenten season. (Yes I know Good Friday is tomorrow, but lunch will probably be served at my preaching engagement so we are concluding today.) Now that it's almost over I am exuberant about getting to eat my sweets once again, but I must admit I am also a little sad to see this combined effort for spiritual renewal come to an end. Looking back, so much has happened and yet nothing seems to have changed at all. I still don't have the answers to all of the questions I asked in the beginning of the fast. I've asked God about apple trees and He seems to have answered me with bushels of oranges. Yet at the same time I have a clearer understanding of where I want to go even if I have no idea how to get there. I hope in the days and weeks to come I continue to see the fruit of our commitment to the fast. In the meantime I am looking forward to a salted caramel cupcake and diving head first into Starbuck's new hazelnut macchiato- a grande please.
